Strawberry Fair is a free volunteer run community music, entertainments, arts and crafts fair. The Fair takes place every year in the first week of June and is set in the heart of Cambridge on Midsummer Common.
The Strawberry Shorts Film Festival is the new incarnation of Strawberry Fairs own short film festival, which has run since 2001.
On the evening of 4th July 2008 over 1000 children, parents, teachers and invited guests met in the Cambridge Corn exchange for an Oscars‐style ceremony. The event was the culmination of the first Cambridgeshire Young People?s Film Competition organised by the Education ICT Service. A panel of professional film makers had judged the 80 submitted films from 27 Secondary, Primary, and Special Schools and individuals and selected winners in a range of categories and age ranges from 5 ‐ 19 years. The awards were sponsored and presented by a range of local and national businesses.
I feel this links with our project because of the link between making a film and working with the community, the strawberry fair work with the community to help people showcase there films, it give people an opportunity to do film making, like the Junction have given us this opportunity.
Also both our project and the strawberry fair shorts are in order to help young people work in the creative and media film industry.
